February the 22nd
Thursday.
The skies are sunny, everyone’s vibing, and all teams are starting to sail at cruise speed.
To help us all understand the intricacies and difficulties surrounding the creation, and subsequent growth of a recently created startup, we had the absolute pleasure of counting with the mentoring of Gonçalo Banha – Co-Founder & COO at Volt Games.
With a vast experience in the gaming world, Gonçalo was kind enough to share with the entrepreneurs all the growing pains his startup had to face, as well as providing an invaluable help on how to avoid the traps that will eventually appear for everyone to face.
The morning started with a quick presentation of Volt Games, Gonçalo shared with all the entrepreneurs all the “do’s” and “dont’s” and all the tips to build a killer pitch, from content, posture and preparation.
With a mind fresh with new ideas and invigorated by the energy, the teams received a challenge: another pitch round in a big group, so that Gonçalo could understand every startup and provide some quick feedback to everyone.
One after another, everyone was able to rise to the challenge and share some of what each startup is and what their goals are.
After lunch each team was able to meet with Gonçalo in private, but now with more time to spend in the mutual exchange of knowledge, experiences, difficulties and objectives. Feedback is key in this trade of information, and how the teams can use the huge amount of data that has been given can turn into an invaluable shortcut.
One by one, as the day rapidly approached its end, the teams left our new home, here in Colégio dos Jesuítas, with a new perspective and an astounding amount of new ideas.
